Evan S. Sorett MD, FCCP, FACP
Evan S. Sorett MD, FCCP, FACP joined Nassau Chest Physicians, PC in 1987. He completed his undergraduate studies at Middlebury College in Vermont in 1974 where he graduated with a B.A. in English Literature. He earned his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/New Jersey Medical School in 1981.
After graduating from medical school, Dr. Sorett completed his internship, residency, and fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan between 1981 and 1986.
Dr. Sorett is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, and Critical Care Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a member of the American Thoracic Society, and a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Sorett is on the professional staffs of St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn NY, North Shore University Hospital (Manhasset and Plainview, NY), and St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage NY.
He is presently the Director of Critical Care Medicine and Director of the Cardio-Thoracic ICU at St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, NY. Dr. Sorett also serves as the Director Medical Informatics at St. Francis Hospital. He is also Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Hofstra University Medical School.
Dr. Sorett has served as a Past President of the medical staff at St. Francis Hospital from 2008 to 2010. He has also acted as co-director of St. Francis Hospital's Fundamentals of Critical Care Support Course since 2005 and proudly serves on numerous hospital committees there.
He has a special interest in the recognition and treatment of sepsis and postoperative care. He is also dedicated to the advancement of Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs for patients with advanced lung diseases.
Dr. Sorett enjoys teaching both residents and fellows as well as nurse practitioners and physician assistants in the treatment of critically ill patients.
