Intensivist Program at St. Francis

In 2007 St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, NY - a member of the CHS-Catholic Health Services hospital system – set a goal to achieve a “Grade A” from Leapfrog’s Hospital Safety Score, which grades hospitals based on expert analysis of infections, injuries and medical errors.

St. Francis Hospital achieved this high honor, in part, through its partnership with Nassau Chest Physicians to provide 24 hour, 7 day  coverage of its intensive care units by a team highly trained critical care board certified or board eligible intensivist physicians.

In addition to the core physicians of Nassau Chest Physicians,  the following intensivist physicians devote all their time to the care of critically ill patients at St. Francis Hospital:

GUY ARISITIDE, M.D.

Guy Aristide, M.D. joined Nassau Chest Physicians, P.C. in July, 2015. Prior to entering medical school, Dr. Aristide earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences at Long Island University and worked as a trauma and critical care Physician’s Assistant for six years. He pursued his medical doctor degree at Ross University School of Medicine and received the M.D. degree in 2008.

Dr. Aristide completed his residency in Internal Medicine at SUNY Downstate and pursued his fellowship training in Pulmonary/Critical Care medicine at Winthrop University Hospital which he successfully completed in 2015.

  • Dr. Aristide is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Board Eligible in Critical Care Medicine.

GURINDER RANA, M.D.

Gurinder Rana, M.D. joined with Nassau Chest Physicians, P.C. in June, 2016. He graduated in 2007 from Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in Ludhiana- Punjab, India with his MBBS/MD degree. He was part of an accelerated medical school training program which allowed him to start early on.

After completion of medical school, he completed the Internal Medicine Residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in 2011. He then furthered his training and completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease from Newark Beth Israel in 2014. With a goal of specializing in cardiac critical care, he further completed a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in 2015.

  • He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Critical Care Medicine.
  • He is also board certified in Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology.

SOFIA NAZ, M.D.

Sofia Naz, M.D. joined Nassau Chest Physicians, PC since October 2017.  She is a graduate of St George’s Hospital Medical School, University of London, United Kingdom where she received the M.D. degree in 2001.

Dr. Naz completed her residency in General Surgery at Case Medical Center / University Hospitals of Cleveland, OH in 2009.  She entered her fellowship training in Acute Care Surgery / Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, PA which she successfully completed in 2010. She completed a second fellowship in minimally invasive bariatric surgery at the same university in Pittsburgh in 2011.

VERSHA TAPARIA, M.D.

Versha Taparia, M.D. has been affiliated with Nassau Chest Physicians, PC since November 2017.  She obtained her bachelor of arts degree and also received the M.D. degree from Northwestern University in Chicago.

Dr. Taparia completed her internal medicine residency at Boston University School of Medicine in 2007. She performed her fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at New York University School of Medicine from 2008-2011.

She is a clinical instructor of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine.

SEPIDEH SEDGH, D.O.

Sepideh Sedgh, D.O. joined Nassau Chest Physicians, P.C. in March 2018.  She attended the State University of New York at Binghamton where she earned the Bachelor of Science degree in 2004.  She is a 2008 graduate of New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) in Old Westbury, New York where she received the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree.

Dr. Sedgh completed her post-doctoral training at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She remained at Maimonides Medical Center to complete her fellowship training in Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine in 2015.
