Intensivist Program at St. Francis

In 2007 St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, NY - a member of the CHS-Catholic Health Services hospital system – set a goal to achieve a “Grade A” from Leapfrog’s Hospital Safety Score, which grades hospitals based on expert analysis of infections, injuries and medical errors.

St. Francis Hospital achieved this high honor, in part, through its partnership with Nassau Chest Physicians to provide 24 hour, 7 day  coverage of its intensive care units by a team highly trained critical care board certified or board eligible intensivist physicians.

In addition to the core physicians of Nassau Chest Physicians,  the following intensivist physicians devote all their time to the care of critically ill patients at St. Francis Hospital:

Adam Brenner, MD

Adam Brenner, M.D. has been associated with Nassau Chest Physicians, P.C. since July, 2014. He is a 2008 graduate of SUNY Downstate College of Medicine and received the M.D. degree. Prior to entering medical school, he attended Duke University, Durham, North Carolina and earned the BS degree in Psychology with a Minor in Chemistry. He also studied abroad in 2000 at the International Institute in Madrid, Spain.

After completion of medical school, he completed a combined Emergency Medicine/Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center in 2013. He then entered his fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center and graduated in 2013.

Jonathan A. Henesch, MD

Jonathan A. Henesch, M.D. has been associated with Nassau Chest Physicians, PC since July, 2013. He is a 2008 graduate of Tel Aviv University Sackler School of Medicine and received the M.D. degree. Prior to entering medical school, he attended the University of Maryland Baltimore County and earned the BS degree in Biology in 2004.

After completion of medical school, he completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins University Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD in 2011. He then entered fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY in 2013.

Guy Aristide, MD

Guy Aristide, M.D. joined Nassau Chest Physicians, P.C. in July, 2015. Prior to entering medical school, Dr. Aristide earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences at Long Island University and worked as a trauma and critical care Physician’s Assistant for six years. He pursued his medical doctor degree at Ross University School of Medicine and received the M.D. degree in 2008.

Dr. Aristide completed his residency in Internal Medicine at SUNY Downstate and pursued his fellowship training in Pulmonary/Critical Care medicine at Winthrop University Hospital which he successfully completed in 2015.

Gurinder Rana, MD

Gurinder Rana, M.D. joined with Nassau Chest Physicians, P.C. in June, 2016. He graduated in 2007 from Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in Ludhiana- Punjab, India with his MBBS/MD degree. He was part of an accelerated medical school training program which allowed him to start early on.

After completion of medical school, he completed the Internal Medicine Residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in 2011. He then furthered his training and completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease from Newark Beth Israel in 2014. With a goal of specializing in cardiac critical care, he further completed a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in 2015.

  • He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Critical Care Medicine.
  • He is also board certified in Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology.
  • He is on the professional staff at St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, NY.

Mehdi Shahidi, M.D.

Mehdi Shahidi, M.D. has been associated with Nassau Chest Physicians, PC since August, 2016. He is a 2006 graduate of Istanbul School of Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey where he received his M.D. degree.

After completion of medical school, he completed his internship and residency at Southern Illinois University in 2012 in Springfield, IL. He then entered fellowship training in Pulmonary Medicine at the same university and graduated in 2014.

After working as a hospitalist in HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL until 2015, he moved to New York to complete his training in Critical Care Medicine at Albert Einstein School of Medicine/ University Hospital for Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY and graduated in July 2016.

Prior to working at Nassau Chest Physicians, Dr. Shahidi worked at several different community hospitals in Illinois as a hospitalist and as a pulmonologist.   He is on the professional staff at St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, NY.

•   Dr. Shahidi is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine and Board  Eligible in Critical Care Medicine.
